AOMC Offering Machining Bootcamps
America’s Cutting Edge (ACE) Bootcamp is underway this week at Appalachian Ohio Manufacturers’ Coalition (AOMC) Manufacturing Support Center. Attendees are being introduced to the machining process. This U.S. Department of Defense initiative for machine tool technology development and advancement is being held from 8am-4pm Monday through Friday.
Students are gaining exposure to CNC machining processes including CAD, CAM, and finished assembly. Students will program, machine, and assemble their own Air Piston. One part of the assembly is modeled each day of the training and students take home their completed assembly at the completion of the week.
The first half of the day is spent on the classroom portion of the training. Students follow instructions to prepare tool paths in Fusion 360 CAM software. For the second half, students run parts on the 3-axis CNC milling machine.
The ACE Bootcamp will be offered again July 8-12 and July 22-26. Funded through the Department of Defense, this training has no cost unless it is run as a private boot camp for an employer. Anyone interested in attending should register online at www.aomanufacturers.org/training.
